Choose a complete squeegee or replacement blade stock

Choose the shape of the working edge

Choose a complete tool if you need a ready-to-hold squeegee. Measure the width across the stencil and the clear span between the rails. Then compare the edge profile and the material you print. The Speedball six-inch square neoprene model serves compact paper graphics, while its six-inch rounded nitrile model serves a fabric print with a different deposit. The width is shared. The intended jobs differ.

Compare stock for a holder

A replacement roll is useful if the holder releases the blade and matches the stock. Compare the section dimensions with the holder’s requirements before buying. The six-foot 60-, 70- and 80-durometer rolls offer different flex at a similar listed section size. The OLYCRAFT 70/90/70 strip uses a firmer center and softer outer layers. Test the combination of blade, ink and mesh you intend to use.

Plan replacement by section size

Measure the section the holder actually grips and note how far the edge should project. Test a cut length against the holder before cutting the rest of a roll. Use the ink and mesh you expect to print with when comparing blade flex.

Guide questions

Does durometer tell me which blade will fit?

It describes hardness. Check the holder’s required width, thickness and profile for fit.

When is a three-width set useful?

It helps if your stencil widths vary while the preferred blade hardness stays the same.

Do I need a new handle to change hardness?

Compare replaceable-blade stock if the existing handle is designed for it. Otherwise compare a complete squeegee of the right profile.
